Call to Order: 7:00

1. Welcome: Conducted by Jane Cartier

 

2. Council Roles for Parent Night Nov. 18/08- see Mark to sign up

 

3. Parent Involvement Committee Greetings: Dave Macko

    -parents are the second most influence on children’s education, the first is teachers

   - Media Violence Powerpoint Presentation will be available to School Councils

  - Conflict Resolution information available on the School Board website

 - book called 176 Ways to Involve Parents by Betty Bolt is available to each School Council

 -Discussion around potential activities to involve parents and ones that have been successful

-Suggestion to obtain parent e-mails at registration or other event to ensure school information is being received by parents and to encourage involvment

 

  4. BDHS Council Report: J. Cartier

     -recap of previous activities at BDHS to involve parents and plans for this year

                 

5. HRPS Council Report: L. Bartlett

   -Harwich-Raleigh will be partnering with Baird to bring in Mad Science on May 7/09 as part of their parental involvement strategy

 

6. General Discussion on Possible Links with School Councils:

    J. Cartier has suggested a joint Council meeting to view the Media Violence Powerpoint

   L. Bartlett will present this to HRPS Council next meeting

   J. Cartier will speak to the Council Chair from Baird
