Student Success
The Student Success Team is comprised of the Principal, Vice Principal, Curriculum Leader of Guidance, Special Education teacher, Student Success and Credit Recovery teachers. They meet each month to discuss individual student achievement and recommend support services, accomodations and strategies for success.
Transitions– Gr. 8-9
Student Services along with BDHS students visit Grade 8 classes.
Grade 8 students attend Information Night in January and tour the school in May.
Mentoring Program
All Grade 9 “At-Risk” students have a staff mentor to assist them throughout the year.
Credit Support and Rescue
Mid-Semester “Back on Track” after school programs to assist academic success.
“How to Study and Prepare for Tests and Exams”.
Semester End “Credit Rescue”.
Credit Recovery
If students finish a course with a mark
between 35-45%, they may be
recommended to complete their
course through a credit recovery
program.
Resource Assistance
The BDHS resource room is open
to all identified students who may
require additional assistance in
specific subject areas. One-on-one or
small group support is provided.
Computers, printers and assistive
technologies are available for these
students to enhance academic success.
Literacy and Numeracy Support
Cross Curricular Literacy and Numeracy Committee.
Intense preparation for EQAO numeracy test in Grade 9 and Literacy Test in Grade 10.
Extra support for re-writers and students deemed “At-Risk” through Grade 9 screening.
