“At –Risk” Co-operative Education
Program
Designed for students who, for a variety
of reasons, are not being successful in the
classroom setting but may be successful
in the workplace. The student is eligible
to earn credits (up to 4 per semester)
through the “At Risk” co-op program.
Entrance into this program is channelled
through the Student Success team.
PASS Program
Social skills, behaviour management,
responsibility and positive attitude are
school and employment success skills.
The PASS program supports students
who may need a short time away from
the classroom environment.
Students are assigned to the PASS
program through an administrator.
The staff provides counseling, reflection
time social skill intervention, academic
help and follow-up with the classroom
teacher.

Assistance with appropriate course, selection and post-secondary planning
Alternative Learning Centre
Dsigned for students who are having difficulty learning in a regular classroom environment and require an in-school "time-out". A child and Youth Worker addresses social and behavioural issues in addition to providing a structured learning environment to encourage academic success.

Grade 9 “At-Risk” meeting to discuss
student needs.
Tracking and monitoring of
“At-Risk” students by Student Success
Teams.
Attendance and truancy monitoring.
Student and staff awareness of different
learning/teaching styles.
Positive reinforcement.
Communication with parents.
Building safe environments within
classrooms with an emphasis on individual
respect.
Opportunities for rewriting and redoing
assignments.
Regular Student Report updates.
Any student leaving school during the semester will confer with a Continuing Education Counsellor to develop an alternate educational plan.
