You’ve heard it ever since grade one. The one word that sticks around you all the way through to your post secondary education. STUDY. Your capability at doing this arbitrary task can be a deciding factor in the fate of your educational career.

To many of us studying is a chore. We don’t want to dot it, we would rather go out, or watch the television or go on the web. But there will come a time in every teen’s life where they must study or face the consequences. So you might as well make it more comfortable and have an environment that will make it easier.

No one knows you better then you. So when it comes to creating a study environment you know what you want. These will just be pointers and examples to help you make one more comfortable for you. Two of the most important things to consider are where you are studying. Do you like a dark room with little windows and isolated from activity or do you prefer and a light room with lots of sunlight and activity about you? Or a mixture of both? Now how do you best learn? Intrapersonal, interpersonal, spatial, musical etc. (http://www.mitest.com/omitest.htm take the multiply intelligence test to see what type you are.)

Based on these results you should be able to find a way for you to best study. If you are a visual learner you should associate you info with images and pictures. A musical person should use music to help them remember what they are studying, and the same for each other intelligence type.

A good idea is to make study group. Study groups are one of the best ways to study since you don’t have learn it all alone and you can have casual conversations with the others at the same time to make it easier. This is especially good for someone who is interpersonal and likes to organizes groups and help others to solve problems.

Now for the set up of you environment, you should have a decently comfortable piece of furniture to sit on. DO NOT lie in bed on a couch for you may fall asleep without realizing it. You want to be able to relax a bit but not too much. You should have good lighting at the area you will be studying at; florescent lights are better then incandescent ones. If music helps you relax or think well then play some music you like just as long as you focus on your studies and not the music. Studying by a T.V. should be avoided for it causes temptation and studying while a T.V. is on is a big distraction.

Breaks are important while studying for long periods of time. You should take about a 10-15 minute break for every hour of study. This would be a good time to get a drink or make a snack that you can have while you continue studying.

These points are by no means the best way to go about making study much easier for you but the our a few good guidelines that can help make it best way for you.
